The Highland Perthshire major events range from Winter Words at Pitlochry Festival Theatre in January to Britain’s largest closed road cycle event, Etape Caledonia in May, through to a whole range of Highland Games throughout the summer and concludes with the Enchanted Forest in October.
January has the Pitlochry New Year Street Party, which attracts several thousand people dancing in Pitlocghry’s mian street and concludesd with burns suppers, which are always popular with locals.
February sees the Winter Words Festival at Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
March sees the annual Neil Gow Festival in Dunkeld
April has the annual downhill Mountain Bike Championships in Dunkeld
May is the start of the Highland Games Season witht eh Atholl Gathering and Atholl Highlanders Parade at Blair Castle on the last bank holiday weekend in May.
July is the Kenmore Highland Games
August is the month of the Breadalbane Show and Games at Aberfeldy, the Rannoch Highland Games, The Strathardel Gathering and the Dunkeld and Birnam Highland Games + The Blair Horse Trials.
September is the last games of the year witht eh Pitlcorhy Highland Games.
October is the month long Enchanted Forest and the Glenfiddich Fidle and Piping Championships
The Atholl & Breadalbane Agricultural Show and Highland Gathering is held over 2 days - Friday and Saturday in the second weekend in August each year for over 60 years. On Friday there are Horse and Pony classes for children of all ages
