The Black Prince of Perthshire
The Birks Cinema, 1 Dunkeld St, Aberfeldy PH15 2DA

The Black Prince (of Perthshire) had strong ties to Highland Perthshire moving to the Area in 1855 part of the time living at Castle Menzies. Duleep Singh and Bamba had six children. Their first born, died tragically and is buried in Kenmore Churchyard, where Sikhs from the around the world come to remember him.
The Black Prince is an exquisitely photographed and sumptuously designed period drama with a tiger's bite as it offers an insight into a controversial chapter of shared British Indian colonial history. Telling the story of The Last king of the Punjab. In early adulthood Maharajah Duleep Singh is torn between two cultures and secures begrudging permission from Queen Victoria to meet his real mother . She soon awakens him to his original Sikh faith and culture, which sets him on a dangerous quest to challenge the British Raj and free his people.
