European Eventing Championships Blair Castle 2015

European Eventing Championships 2015 @ Blair Castle

Wednesday 9th to Sunday 13th September starts 9am each day.

This is the first time it has been held in Scotland, since the European Eventing Championships began in 1953.  Sixteen nations compete at Blair in 2015. A real opportunity for us all to see and experience this top class event on our own door step!

It must be the biggest event to be hosted in Highland Perthshsire with thousands of tickets already sold on line, before the gates open. TV stations all over over Europe will be covering the event- fabulous publicity for the area and scotland.

The sport of eventing evolved from the requirements for a top class military charger – steadiness and elegance on parade, the ability to gallop across country in battle, and then to continue with duties after a strenuous day. These have been transformed in to the three phases of the sport – Dressage, Cross-Country and Show Jumping. Despite being called ‘three-day eventing, the modern sport takes place over four days, as the dressage phase takes two days to complete.

Shopping Village – Over 200 trade stands offer something for all tastes and budgets: bespoke jewellery, fine art, country and casual clothing, everything you could possibly want for horses or hounds, horseboxes, 4x4s… the list is endless. A large food hall has plenty to tempt the taste buds, including handmade chocolates, organic meat, fine wines, cheeses and more.

The Bruadar Country Fair takes place on Saturday and Sunday, and showcases all sorts of countryside pursuits. Displays in the Bruadar Country Fair Arena in recent years have encompassed everything from traditional countryside pastimes such as falconry and gundog training to the more modern activity of quad bike stunt riding!
