About

The Smithy B&B - at Tombane, 5 miles from Dunkeld.

smithy-sitting-room.jpgAccommodation - The Smithy for B&B sleeps three either in a double or twin and a small single, there are two bathrooms and a great sitting room.

Set withing magnificent scenery, Tombane is only five miles from Dunkeld on the Sma' (small) Glen road which is one of the Old Wade Roads, built in 1735 to help sivalise and passify the highlands.

Easy Access - This is an ideal area to be based for easy access to Perth, Edinburgh and further North. There is storage for bikes and a hose for washing down.

From the Smithy you look across fields to hills, where if you are lucky you may see a Golden Eagle soaring. There are 54 acres to wander in, including 25 acres of mixed woodland.  Dunkeld has many excellent and varied walks to offer including the Hermitage and Rumbling Bridge Falls, fishing can be arranged locally, quad biking and many other activities are available in the Strath and surrounding area.

smithy-kitchen-breakfast.jpgBlair Castle with its wonderful gardens and the House of Bruar, The Harrods of the North, terrific shopping for all pockets, are just 30 minutes up the A9 - great for a day out.

Dunkeld with its Cathedral set on the banks of the Tay is only five miles, or Aberfeldy twelve miles with a wonderful Book Shop in an old Water Mill, fantastic coffee and cakes while you read the papers, walks along the Tay, Castle Menzies, (or the semi detached castle, as my late husband called it) and House of Menzies where you can try New World wines. Highland Safaris, have a trip into the hills and you can try gold panning; I could go on…….
