Accommodation - The Smithy for B&B
sleeps three either in a double or twin and a small single, there
are two bathrooms and a great sitting room.
Set withing magnificent scenery, Tombane
is only five miles from Dunkeld on the Sma' (small) Glen road which
is one of the Old Wade Roads, built in 1735 to help sivalise and
passify the highlands.
Easy Access - This is an ideal area to be
based for easy access to Perth, Edinburgh and further North. There
is storage for bikes and a hose for washing down.
From the Smithy you look across fields to
hills, where if you are lucky you may see a Golden Eagle
soaring. There are 54 acres to wander in, including 25 acres of
mixed woodland. Dunkeld has many excellent and varied walks
to offer including the Hermitage and Rumbling Bridge Falls, fishing
can be arranged locally, quad biking and many other activities are
available in the Strath and surrounding area.
Blair Castle with its wonderful gardens
and the House of Bruar, The Harrods of the North, terrific shopping
for all pockets, are just 30 minutes up the A9 - great for a day
Dunkeld with its Cathedral set on the banks of the
Tay is only five miles, or Aberfeldy twelve miles with a
wonderful Book Shop in an old Water Mill, fantastic coffee and
cakes while you read the papers, walks along the Tay, Castle
Menzies, (or the semi detached castle, as my late husband called
it) and House of Menzies where you can try New World wines.
Highland Safaris, have a trip into the hills and you can try gold
panning; I could go on…….
